How we will use collected funds

The funds raised will be used for the last stage of production of the disc: mastering, graphic design, digital distribution and limited physical printing.

Project history

After winning the Gaviota  de Plata at the Festival of Viña del Mar in 2016 with his first and only song "Viene de Panamá" the group is going to make an album that traverses historically and geographically the journey that began the African drum in the New World.

Project references

"Viene de Panamá" was the winning song of the folk competition at the International Festival of Song of Viña del Mar 2016. After that great achievement for Panama, the group has represented the country at the 2016 AfroLatino Festival in New York at the Feria de las  Culturas Amigas 2016 in Mexico, in the Festival Entrerritmos 2017 in Morocco and in Madrid. He also won a grant from Ibermúsicas to present his music at the FAROS in Mexico in 2017. The group also conducts research expeditions and oral history in afro communities.

No root, no country

To Afrodisíaco, the drum is the sound of freedom. The enslaved Africans used it to communicate and to resist. Over time, that rhythmic and rebellious rhythm was transformed into a thousand continental tumbaos: cumbias, salsa, merengue, konpa, jazz, reggaeton and much more. Roots music emphasizes values that are indispensable for the construction of a healthy society: community, diversity and boldness.
